This site is my view of the Seattle bike scene.
My history with the bike is probably similar to yours. I grew up with them, riding all over with friends. When I hit my teen years, I still used them, more for transportation. Inevidably, with the license also came the “extended break”.
I moved to Washington when I was nine, living in Wenatchee. After attending college in Bellingham, I moved down to Seattle in 1998.
In 2001, I started back with the bike in the form of commuting to work. In 2002, I rode the Seattle to Portland. I started racing cyclocross in 2004.
I commute almost daily using the Burke and Sammamish River Trails (~33mi RT). I’ll be the one with the blue/grey/blue Timbuk2, riding either the Jake or the silver Giro
I pay the bills making programs on computers, and I’ve been blogging since 2001. In the summer of 2005 I started reading BikePortland.org, and thought Jonathan was doing a great job. What a great idea. Blog about your local biking scene.
In early 2006 I finally decided to do something about it and create sort of a “sister” site of sorts. There’s been a friendly competition in the Seattle and Portland racing scene regarding each other, however I’d like this to be more of a community/peer type of relationship. Symbiotic even.
In early 2007 I put a call out for other local cyclists to help out if they wanted, giving readers a wider variety and perspectives on the Seattle cycling scene. A few have signed up, and contribute when they can (which is all I’m asking for).
So here it is. I hope you find it useful. If you have any questions feel free to send me an email.
Thanks for stopping by.
