Artist Information:

Claire Jauregui
Claire was born in Chico, California in 1980. She graduated with a BHA in art, creative writing, and gender studies from Carnegie Mellon University in 2002. Claire spent her junior year of college in the south of France and attributes her love and use of vibrant color to this experience. Claire’s current work explores how color, shape, density, and texture interact to create different types of space. The shapes in her paintings create recall clouds, stepping stones, and aerial views of landscapes. These shapes in turn create maps, paths, and records of a particular journey. Claire has lived in Seattle since 2004 and enjoys biking to her studio, sitting in the sun, drinking tea, and eating pancakes on Sundays.

Melia Cornell
Born in Honolulu, raised in Okinawa. Melia (Nest) doodled her way through grade school,. She moved to Seattle to study photography, but found she’d rather be painting then photoshoping. She is inspired by birds bees and willow trees.

Pubs
Pubs first picked up a spray can in the fifth grade while attending a strict Catholic school where the nuns would gave students the “beat down” for not tucking in their shirts. He and his friends used to sneak spray cans inside their packs to school and afterwards they would head out to the “underground”, a nearby underpass, where they honed their craft. Pubs grew up in gritty East Tacoma, which continues to inspire him to create art that “everyday people can experience.” He’s one of the only friends from his original neighborhood to go to college. Pubs attended the Art Institute of Seattle where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design. He lists artists; Doze Green, Keith Haring, Jasper Johns, and Andy Abero as primary influences.

Stylistically; Asian, Native American, Art Deco, Victorian Ornament, and Russian Constructivism all find ways into his work. He’s not bashful about dabbling in other art forms such as sewing, photography, architecture, and fashion to find inspiration for his pieces either. Pubs expresses it best himself, “I am an artist who is always experimenting and following different creative paths. I have a life-long history as an artist. I not only have a strong connection to graffiti and urban street art but I’m also inspired to create fine and graphic/commercial art as a way to make a living with my talents.” Currently, Pubs mixes his urban art experience with graphic design as the Art Director and Lead Designer for evo, a Seattle-based retail outfit promoting the collaboration between art, fashion, and culture with sports like skiing, snowboarding, and skateboarding.
