It feels like it’s been awhile since I’ve filled up the car.
Generally I’ll leave it at home or drive a couple miles to the trail head and ride in. All that really means is that a tank of gas lasts quite awhile. I’ll have to say, this was the first time I was sort of shocked by how much it took to fill up the tank.
Now, I’ll be the first to admit that I have an SUV. Let me explain. I married into it, fully paid for. We have also cared for and maintained it quite well. It’ll be turning 200k miles (no typo there) sometime this summer.
Anyway. It’s a Jeep 6 cylinder. This is a shot of the gas pump after filling it from empty. $65 bucks. Mentally, that’s really $70. Which really makes it terribly close to $100. Imagine filling up once a week. Wow.
Perhaps another reason to look at riding the bike in a few times a week?

Here Here! It’s amazing the things I’ve simply taken for granted not owning a car anymore (nearing seven years). I had to fill up my mother’s car back East one time on some trip and was shocked at how so much of the process was almost nostalgic, I’m absolutely thankful I don’t have to do that very much. Considering the sheer cost of it nowadays, that’s just another reason.
