I hate posting stuff like this. Matter of fact this is my third attempt. Here goes.
In a very unfortunate accident, a local commuter/racer has passed away from the result of a bike+vechicle accident.
“Just before 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, a man in his 50s was driving south on 35th Avenue Southwest and was turning onto eastbound Southwest Graham Street, police spokesman Sean Whitcomb said Wednesday. The cyclist, who was traveling at “a good speed” north on 35th Avenue Southwest, struck the side of the van head-on, he said.”
Ughh. As a regular commuter this kind of thing hits home pretty close. It’s something that could happen to any of us.
The best I can say is for everyone to please be careful out there. Take your time where you know it’s busy, and be alert. Especially with winter/night commutes coming up.
For the lives directly affected, my deepest and sincerest regrets to you all.
I’ve heard rumors that tomorrow’s Critical Mass ride will be dedicated to the fallen rider. That meets up downtown at Westlake Center @ 5:30pm.
