Crossing 520 with a bike

June 30th, 2006 · No Comments

If you’re a cyclist who crosses 520 on a bus, you know there are often more cyclists than available bus bike racks. That’s why Metro and the cycling community cut a deal:

All buses including those not in service (“deadhead” buses) are required to stop for cyclists if there is bike rack space available.

You should never be passed by a deadhead bus. If you are, this is what you should do:

1. Write down the bus number (four digit number written on the front, sides, and rear of bus), date, time, your location, and the direction the bus was going.

2. Go to Metro’s feedback webpage and report the incident

Metro has been responsive to our concerns in the past, but we continue to hear reports of cyclists being passed on 520. To solve this problem we must become the squeaky wheel.
