SR2 Highway improvements meeting

June 8th, 2006 · No Comments

From the Bicycle Alliance of Washington:

If you cycle on Highway 2, please read this:

There are meetings next week (June 13 and 14) on a plan for improvements to SR 2 between Snohomish and Skykomish. The changes will impact cyclists who use the highway - whether it’s for the better or not partly depends on us. We need to make ourselves heard at this early stage and throughout the process.

Changes to the shoulder - rumble strips, width, etc. - will be part of this plan.

Please consider attending a meeting or reviewing the information on the website (http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/US2/RDP/) and making your comments to the Department of Transportation. Let them know that cyclists use this roadway and we want it to be designed for our safety as well as for cars. Be specific about what kind of shoulder you are most comfortable with (width, continuous or intermittent rumblestrips, etc.)
