Bike To Work Month

May 1st, 2006 · No Comments

Today kicks off Bike to Work month.

Cascade bike club has local information, and if you’re into a bit of competition be sure to look at their commute challenge (I’m on a team from work).

During May, National Bike Month, you are invited to join one of the biggest bike commuter events on the west coast: the 2006 Group Health Commute Challenge.

If bicycle commuting is new to you, this is a great program to get you started. For seasoned commuters, this is your chance to test your bike-commuting mettle by riding to work as often as you can during the month. Challenge yourself, challenge your workmates, and challenge other local businesses to be a part of the solution. Just commute FIVE times, or more, (round-trips) during the 30-day period and be eligible for great prizes.

If you’re just getting started, or on the fence about the whole bicycle commuting thing, perhaps you’d be intererested in “Bike to work week” (May 15-19 ) or “Bike to work day” which is Friday May 19th.

In any case, this is all about experiencing what it is like to bike to work, and the benefits it can provide.

Good luck and safe riding everyone.
