the data presented indicates that while striking the door can lead to serious injury, getting nailed by a passing vehicle is far more deadly, with most of the fatalities in these dooring incidents attributable to being struck by a passing vehicle. With that in mind, your strategy of swerving to avoid being doored is a potential fatality waiting to happen. My advice would be to change your riding style before your luck runs out.

I’ll also mention that I’m reading The Art of Urban Cycling by Robert Hurst. I intend on doing a report/review on this when I’m done, however I’m going to highly recommend that you read it.

This means that you’ll be better off going to your library to check it out, or stopping by your favorite bookstore to pick it up now rather then later.
